chore: prepare the 3.9.0 release (#803)
Bumps src.__version__ to 3.9.0 and turns Unreleased into ## 3.9.0: per-plugin schedules (#799), the removal of the cache-key mailboxes (#773, breaking), the Vegas pause fix (#798) and the Update Code index.lock fix (#801, #802). Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

## Unreleased
## 3.9.0
Per-plugin schedules (#799), the end of the cache-key mailboxes (#773,
**breaking**: see "Removed" below; restart the display and the web interface
together after updating), a Vegas pause fix (#798), and a fix for Update Code
failing with `.git/index.lock: File exists` on a slow Pi (#801, #802).
### Fixed: Update Code left `.git/index.lock` behind
A git that Python's timeout killed could not remove `.git/index.lock`, so
every later update failed with "Unable to create '.../.git/index.lock': File
exists", and removing the file by hand only lasted until the next timeout.
Update Code now runs git in its own process group, stops it with SIGTERM
before SIGKILL and clears the lock it left; pulls get 600 s instead of 60 s;
the read-only version and status checks set `GIT_OPTIONAL_LOCKS=0` so a
timed-out poll cannot take the lock. A rebase in progress (detached HEAD) now
stops Update Code with a message instead of failing inside git; an abandoned
one is quit first. If a device is already stuck on an older release, stop
the services, kill any running git, remove `.git/index.lock` and pull by hand
once. (#801, #802)
